Highlights

01 Oaxaca’s living culture.

02 Yoga that grounds & renews.

03 Rituals of purification - Temazcal Ceremony

04 San Martín Tilcajete visit

05 Turtle Release & Bioluminescent Plankton

01 Oaxaca’s living culture.

Wander vibrant markets and historic churches, meet artisans on cobblestone streets, and dive into a hands-on Oaxacan cooking class that moves from market sourcing to grinding chiles and crafting moles you’ll share over lunch. Spend full days tracing Zapotec heritage, from Teotitlán del Valle’s master weavers and beeswax candle makers to Hierve el Agua’s mineral pools and Mitla’s geometric ruins, then stand above the valleys at Monte Albán before stepping into San Martín Tilcajete to watch copal wood become hand-painted alebrijes using natural pigments.

02 Yoga that grounds & renews.

Begin each day with soul-centering practices led by Willis Johnson—breath-led flows, gentle arrivals, and evening meditations that regulate the nervous system and deepen presence. From rooftop sunrises in Oaxaca to ocean-breath sessions in Puerto Escondido, movement becomes your anchor for clarity and ease.

03 Rituals of purification - Temazcal Ceremony

Step into the warmth of a traditional temazcal, a sweat-lodge ritual led by an experienced temazcalero that supports release, circulation, and mental clarity. Volcanic stones are heated and infused with herbs; steam fills the lodge in guided “doors” of breath, song, and intention. Expect cyclical rounds (with breaks), mindful pacing, and clear consent at every stage. Wear a secure swimsuit, hydrate well, and bring a small towel and change of clothes. Afterward, we rehydrate with fruit and electrolytes, integrating a grounded sense of lightness and reset.

04 San Martín Tilcajete visit

In the heart of Oaxaca’s craft corridor, San Martín Tilcajete hums with the scent of copal wood and the rhythm of hand tools. Here, master artisans carve and paint alebrijes, mythic creatures brought to life with natural pigments from cochineal, indigo, and plants. You’ll step inside family workshops to see each stage—from rough block to fine brushwork, learn the symbolism behind patterns, and try your hand at a simple detail. There’s time to meet the makers, support fair, direct purchases, and take home a piece that carries the village’s color, patience, and imagination.

05 Turtle Release & Bioluminescent Plankton

At sunset, join certified conservationists on a protected beach to release hatchling sea turtles, learn about nesting, migration, and the no-touch protocol as your tiny traveler meets the Pacific. After dark, shift to a calm coastal lagoon near Puerto Escondido where bioluminescent plankton ignite the water with every movement. Glide by boat (life jackets provided) or opt for a brief, supervised swim to watch light ripple from your fingertips. It’s equal parts wonder and stewardship, an unforgettable night that supports local marine protection.
